Marseille Montpellier prediction 2025-04-19

Marseille vs Montpellier prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-04-18 19:05.
[p]Marseille’s 3-0 defeat at Monaco last weekend saw them leapfrogged in the Ligue 1 table by their conquerors, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side starting the round in third after losing four of their last five games (W1). Despite this recent slump, Marseille’s fortunes remain in their own hands as they hunt a top-three finish which would secure qualification for the league phase of next season’s UEFA Champions League.[/p]

[p]Les Phocéens’ return to the Stade Vélodrome this weekend will be a welcome one having won six of their eight home league games to date in 2025 (D1, L1), including each of the last four. Anything but a victory here could see Marseille end the weekend outside of the top three, but they should be confident of a positive result having lost only two of their 29 Ligue 1 home games against Montpellier (W14, D13).[/p]

[p]Rooted to the bottom of the Ligue 1 table, Montpellier’s relegation could be made official as soon as this weekend, which sums up just how poor their campaign has been. New manager Zoumana Camara’s first game in charge at Angers last weekend ended in a 2-0 defeat, meaning they have now lost each of their last ten Ligue 1 games, the longest current run of any side in Europe’s traditional top-five leagues.[/p]

[p]La Paillade have won just four league games all season (D3, L22), but new lows have been reached in this most recent dismal sequence. Over those last ten games, Montpellier had 22 goals scored against them, conceding 2+ on eight separate occasions. Even worse, they have scored just one goal of their own across the ten games, and are goalless in their last seven outings, meaning they have endured more than 11 hours of action without scoring.[/p]

[p]Key battle: Six of Luis Henrique’s seven Ligue 1 goals this term have come in the second half, including his strike in October’s reverse fixture. Busy Montpellier goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte has made at least three saves in 19 of his 26 league appearances this season, making five stops in the reverse fixture despite losing 5-0.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Marseille and Montpellier have scored the fewest Ligue 1 goals in the opening 15 minutes of a match this season (two each).[/p]
