Marseille PSG prediction 2024-10-27

Marseille vs PSG prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-10-26 19:45.
[p]The two most successful clubs in French football meet again for the 108th time with Marseille looking to cut the three-point deficit on Paris Saint-Germain who started the round at the top of the Ligue 1 table. Whilst it’s one of the biggest rivalries in France, ‘Le Classique’ has been a H2H fixture heavily dominated by PSG in recent years, as Marseille enter this contest hoping to end a ten-game H2H winless league run in front of their home fans (D2, L8), though they did at least beat PSG in Coupe de France action back in 2023. [/p]

[p]The hosts could be accused of crumbling when the PSG juggernaut comes to town, as not only is their league H2H record a poor one, but Marseille actually haven’t scored a single goal in any of their last five Ligue 1 H2Hs at this venue. Many will expect a different outcome this time based on the attacking performance under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, with his team having netted 21 league goals already. That’s their joint-highest tally at this stage of a season across the last 75 years! [/p]

[p]While that’s an impressive attacking showing from Marseille, typically there’s one side who have outdone them thus far in the scoring department, and it’s of course PSG (25 goals). They secured a dominant 4-2 win over Strasbourg last week, yet that was actually their only win from their past four competitive outings (D2, L1), which included a 1-1 Champions League draw against PSV this week. [/p]

[p]That form indicates PSG maybe aren’t currently at their very best, and the midweek fixture also means they’ve had less time to prepare for this test. That could prove key, as Luis Enrique’s men failed to win each of their last three Ligue 1 matches immediately following Champions League games (D2, L1). [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Luis Henrique is averaging a goal in every two appearances so far this Ligue 1 season, with three of his four strikes for Marseille arriving after half-time. Marco Asensio is growing in influence for PSG, registering four goal contributions (G2, A2) in his past five Ligue 1 matches. Both goals were his side’s second of the day. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: More than two-thirds (68% – 17) of PSG’s league goals this Ligue 1 season arrived after half-time.[/p]
