Millwall Cardiff prediction 2022-09-03

Millwall vs Cardiff prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-09-02 14:00.
These are trying times for Millwall who lost a third straight league game at Burnley last time out before then enduring coach trip chaos and not arriving home until 8am the next day! That added fatigue perhaps won’t help Millwall end their first run of three straight league defeats ‘to nil’ in over nine years, a sequence which has caused boss Gary Rowett to publicly accept that his side are not matching their top-six ambitions on the pitch.

Looking for a resurgence, Rowett can perhaps point to his side’s solid recent record against Cardiff at The Den (W2, D3). Interestingly enough, the Lions are yet to record a home league draw (W2, L1) after notching a second league-high 15 stalemates at any venue last term. But maybe a draw is on the horizon as Millwall have drawn seven of their last nine September-held league games as part of a nine-match unbeaten run during the month of September!

Sitting just one point above Millwall in the standings, Cardiff travel here seeking to end a four-game winless run (D2, L2). After making over 250 appearances for Millwall as a player, visiting boss Steve Morison returns to The Den for the second time as a manager. The first ended in defeat, a feeling all too familiar for the Bluebirds boss this term, who recently described his side as a “work in progress”.

With fan expectations potentially tempered by the manager’s comments, Morison will look to build on a run of just one away victory across the last seven Championship trips (D1, L5). Improving that in the capital will be tough though as Cardiff have not won back-to-back away league games in London since 2012, but have the chance to change that after defeating QPR in their most recent such trip.

Players to watch: Millwall have only won this season when George Honeyman contributed to a goal (G1, A1). Cardiff will be sweating on the return of summer signing Callum O’Dowda, who assisted in their only two league wins this season.

Hot stat: Six of Rowett’s last nine personal H2Hs with Cardiff ended level (W2, D1).
