Millwall Cardiff prediction 2024-04-13

Millwall vs Cardiff prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2024-04-12 14:00.
[p]Millwall pulled off the biggest upset of midweek, beating automatic promotion-chasing Leicester 1-0 to end a four-match winless league run (D1, L3). That affords them the chance to extend their unbeaten home league streak to five matches (W3, D1), but with all three wins coming by a 1-0 scoreline, another tight affair is likely in order against Cardiff. [/p]

[p]The incentive is there for the struggling Lions to do so, as a victory here would move them onto 50 points – a tally no Championship side has been relegated with since Blackburn in 2016/17. A favourable recent home record against Cardiff (W3, D3) would suggest it’s a distinct possibility, but a draw seems equally as likely given Millwall boss Neil Harris has drawn all three of his personal H2Hs against the Bluebirds. [/p]

[p]With their play-off chances hanging by a thread, a draw here simply won’t suffice for Cardiff, who realistically need to win every one of their remaining league games to have any chance of making the top six. Perhaps a first top-half Championship finish since 2020/21 – when current Millwall boss Harris was predominantly in charge – is a more realistic aim, but a 1-0 midweek win at Birmingham did at least keep their slim hopes alive.[/p]

[p]There’s more than just the top six to play for though, as boss Erol Bulut is fighting to save his job, with his contract due to expire at the end of the season after barely a campaign in charge. Hitting the road may actually be timely then as he seeks what could be some job-saving results to close out the season, largely due to the fact Cardiff have won three of their last four away league games (L1). [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Two heroes in 1-0 victories in midweek, Millwall’s Ryan Longman has seen both his home league goals this season serve as the opener, while Cardiff’s Josh Bowler has struck the first of the game on his three away scoring appearances this season. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Ahead of the round, Millwall have conceded a joint-league high seven goals after the 90th minute. [/p]
