Millwall Preston prediction 2023-04-15

Millwall vs Preston prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-04-14 14:00.
After seeing his side fail to score for the fourth game in succession when going down 1-0 at Hull (D2, L2), Millwall coach Gary Rowlett was somewhat obvious in his assessment when saying: “I can say it until I’m blue in the face: you’ve got to score.” That result means their top-six place is now seriously under threat and now only goal difference separates them from an in-form Preston North End lurking just outside the play-off places, making this a proverbial play-off six-pointer.

As Millwall look to extend a seven-game unbeaten H2H run (W5, D2), a return to The Den may not give them the decisive edge it once did. That’s because Millwall have won only three of their last 11 Championship home matches (D6, L2) and with the last two of those games seeing Millwall draw a blank, don’t be surprised to see Rowett even more dumbfounded come Saturday evening.

Preston’s late top-six dash continued on Monday as an injury time goal gave them a 2-1 win over Reading to secure their fifth win across six league games (L1). Manager Ryan Lowe insists his side now have “a very good chance to get in the play-offs”, but he won’t want to be reminded that the last time Preston strung together a trio of Championship victories their run was halted by a 4-2 defeat against none other than Millwall!

Only three Championship clubs have claimed more away points than the Lilywhites this season, but that masks their recent indifferent six-game form on the road (W2, D2, L2) which has been plagued by four scoring blanks. That perhaps increases the emphasis on the match opener as Preston are one of just two Championship clubs to have won every away game this campaign when scoring first (W9).

Key battle: Millwall’s Zian Flemming is looking to end a six-game scoring drought and comes up against a side he scored a hat-trick against in November. Preston ‘keeper Freddie Woodman will be out to thwart his plans having claimed a clean sheet on his last visit to The Den.

Hot streak: Each of Millwall’s last five league matches stood goalless at half-time.
