Millwall QPR prediction 2023-12-26

Millwall vs QPR prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-12-25 13:00.
With only three points separating Millwall and QPR, this Boxing Day fixture promises to be akin to a heavyweight bout when it comes to the Championship relegation battle. A hard-earned point at Stoke on Saturday (0-0) kept Millwall above the bottom three, though it extended a winless period (D3, L4) that goes all the way back to a 4-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday on manager Joe Edwards’ debut. A win here will not only break that rut, but it will also mark consecutive H2H victories for the first time since 1989, after they won their last match against QPR in February.

It will need some sharp improvement at home from the Lions, who have failed to win each of their last seven games at this venue (D3, L4), with the last two forcing them to settle for 1-1 draws despite taking the lead. The hosts can at least draw some festive cheer from an impressive recent record in which they haven’t lost any of their last five Boxing Day matches (W3, D2).

Contrastingly, QPR won just one of their last nine league games on this particular day (D2, L6), including three consecutive scoring blanks. Ominously, that was also the case in a 1-0 defeat to ten-man Southampton on Saturday that marked successive losses and kept them two points adrift of safety. Boss Martí Cifuentes didn’t want to read too much into the defeat against a current top four side and will be looking to rekindle the spirit that produced ten points from four matches (W3, D1) prior to those defeats.

Their challenge now is to improve on the road, as the Hoops have been off the mark with five losses across their last seven trips (W1, D1). There’s enough incentive to alter that sequence with a win which would make it their first ever consecutive away H2H victories, having tasted success here last season (2-0).

Players to watch: Duncan Watmore scored Millwall’s opening goal in a 2-1 win when these sides last met, his first Championship goal for the Lions. QPR’s goal in that loss was assisted by Ilias Chair, who could once again be their creative outlet after assisting each of their last three H2H goals.

Hot streak: QPR received the first yellow card of the match in each of their last nine away matches.
