Millwall vs Swansea prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-09-29 14:00.
After a shaky start to the Championship season, Millwall have recovered in typically solid style by losing just one of their last five league matches (W2, D2), with that sole defeat coming at the hands of recently-relegated Leeds. But after missing out on the play-offs by just one point last season, Gary Rowett won’t want to see too many repeats of the Lions’ goalless draw with West Brom after the manager admitted his side “weren’t quite brave enough”.
Bridging that gap this time around will require an improvement at home, as the Den hasn’t proved particularly fierce of late with Millwall losing five of their last seven matches there (W2). The visit of Swansea City hardly bodes well on that front, as although they won this fixture last term (2-1), the Lions failed to win any of the previous six H2Hs they hosted prior to that victory (D2, L4).
Swansea make the journey to the English capital buoyed by a first win last weekend under new boss Michael Duff, who described his “pride and relief” at their 3-0 victory over basement boys Sheffield Wednesday. The routine success for the Swans ended a seven-match winless streak in all competitions (D2, L5), while also relieving some of the pressure on their under-fire manager.
While Millwall have struggled at home, travel sickness has plagued Swansea who’ve lost three of their four road trips this term (D1), and any further slip-ups here would leave them vulnerable to falling back into the Championship relegation zone. Duff may therefore look to lean on his side’s strong H2H record in recent years, with the Swans losing just two of their last 12 meetings with Millwall (W6, D4).
Players to watch: After missing from the penalty spot against West Brom, Millwall’s Zian Flemming will look to bounce back here and it could come late, with each of his last four strikes arriving in the second half of matches. Swansea’s Jamal Lowe made no mistake from 12-yards against Wednesday, and he boasts a strong career H2H record against the Lions (W3, D2, L1), netting a brace here back in 2021.
Hot stat: Seven of the eight goals Swansea have conceded in Championship away matches this season have arrived after half-time.
