Millwall Wigan prediction 2022-12-10

Millwall vs Wigan prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-12-09 15:00.
Ahead of what is a return to action for the Championship, Millwall should have a mini-head start on Wigan given they are one of just two clubs in the league to have played a competitive game in December prior to this round. Any advantage perhaps quickly dissipates when factoring in that Millwall actually lost that game 3-0 away to Sunderland, a result which had at the time displaced them from the final play-off spot.

A return to The Den seems timely then as they go in search of a return to winning ways, with Millwall victorious in four of their last five league home games (D1). The visit of Wigan could throw a spanner in the works for Millwall boss Gary Rowett though, for he hasn't won any of his last four personal managerial H2Hs (D2, L2), with Rowett-managed sides never even managing to keep a clean sheet against the Latics!

A new era dawns for Wigan, with Kolo TourĂ© taking over the reins for what is his first-ever senior management role – a man who Latics’ frontman Callum Lang believes can help them “really push forward”. Fresh from a warm weather training camp in Turkey, it’s a swift return to the road for Wigan, and with just one point collected from their last five away league games (D1, L4), it’s safe to say they have not been happy travellers.

There appears little chance of any relief coming at The Den, with Wigan winning just one of their 14 away league games against Millwall (exc play-offs: D4, L9). There’s a little additional incentive for Wigan to end that torrid run here, with the Latics looking to honour the memory of a long-serving and well-respected community pillar Tom Flower after his sad passing in the lead up to this game. Flower devoted 11 years to improving the fortunes of the underprivileged across the town with the club’s community trust.

Players to watch: Often Millwall’s go-to man, Zian Flemming has scored either the game’s first or last goal in his five scoring appearances this season, while Will Keane’s last six Wigan goals have arrived in the first half.

Hot stat: Wigan have led at half-time in five of their ten Championship away games this season (HT: D3, L2).
