Monaco Lyon prediction 2022-09-11

Monaco vs Lyon prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-09-10 18:45.
Monaco certainly rode their luck in the UEFA Europa League (UEL) against Red Star Belgrade in midweek, but clung on to secure a 1-0 victory. That’s Monaco’s second 1-0 win in succession, both on the road, and despite boss Philippe Clement praising his side's recent defensive attributes, it’s now time to plug the gaps at home where Monaco have conceded four goals in each of their last two home league games.

It’s actually the first time in history that Monaco have conceded four goals in consecutive home Ligue 1 fixtures, and that’s a record Clement certainly won’t want to extend. However, considering opponents Lyon have scored three goals in two of their last three visits to the Stade Louis II, avoiding another loss may be a close run thing, especially as Monaco are still searching for their first home league win of the season (D1, L2).

Lyon were in midweek action of their own, albeit on the domestic stage not the European, as they slipped to a 3-1 defeat against Lorient in Ligue 1. With manager Peter Bosz left fuming in the aftermath of that Lorient defeat, stating he wanted to “change eight players at half-time”, the Lyon boss may look to ring the changes here in search of a first away league win of the season (D1, L1).

Bosz also insisted he wasn’t “worried” and he expects his players to bounce back, and there does seem to be some sound logic behind that statement. Les Gones haven’t lost back-to-back Ligue 1 games since October 2019, but after trailing at half-time in four of their previous six away matches it appears Lyon could struggle from the off here, and in the process lose more ground on the early Ligue 1 frontrunners.

Key battle: No goalkeeper has made more Ligue 1 saves this season than Monaco’s Alexander Nübel (31) ahead of the round. Trying to beat him is Alexandre Lacazette, and with all four of his goals since his Lyon return being scored during the first half, he could carry an early threat.

Hot stat: Lyon have conceded just two second-half Ligue 1 goals so far, which is the joint-fewest ahead of the round.
