Monaco Montpellier prediction 2023-12-03

Monaco vs Montpellier prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-12-02 14:00.
It was an unhappy return from the international break for Monaco, who slipped to a error-ridden 5-2 defeat against PSG, prompting an angry head coach Adi HĆ¼tter to blame four of the five goals conceded on ā€œour own mistakesā€. Despite that result, Monaco remained in the top three ahead of this round, and with just two defeats across the last seven rounds (W4, D1, L2), a resurgent result on home soil will be the expectation.

Thatā€™s especially true when considering that Monaco have the best home record in the league after six outings (W5, L1), and as a result they could even move to the top of the ā€˜homeā€™ standings ahead of PSG with yet another win. Aiming to thwart them are Montpellier, a peculiar side who sit one point of the drop zone, but could outperform their ranking after avoiding defeat in four of the last six league H2Hs in Monaco (W2, D2, L2).

But improving on that record doesnā€™t look likely on Montpellierā€™s raw form, as they enter this on the back of just one win across the last six rounds (W1, D2, L3). The atmosphere around the club this season has been rather chaotic: a one-point deduction for out of control fans preceded yet more violent scenes last weekend as Brestā€™s team bus was attacked following Montpellierā€™s 3-1 home defeat, whilst boss Michel Der Zakarian was this week sent off in a draw at home to Clermont!

Drowning out the noise will be important for Montpellier as they hit the road once again after their double header of home games. Both of their away wins this season came with three-goal margins, although such displays of ruthlessness are inconsistent at best as the visitors travel here on the back of consecutive away defeats ā€˜to nilā€™, conceding five unanswered goals in the process.

Players to watch: No fewer than three of the top-five scoring Ligue 1 players ply their trade for Monaco and Montpellier. Aleksandr Golovin jointly leads the way for Monaco with five goals, a run which includes picking up two match-best Flashscore ratings in his last five league appearances. On the other hand, Akor Adams is Montpellierā€™s leading marksman with seven goals, a sequence which includes three scoring doubles.

Hot stat: Monaco scored in both halves in a league-high ten of the first 13 rounds (77%).
