Montpellier PSG prediction 2025-05-10

Montpellier vs PSG prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-05-09 19:00.
[p]Two sides at opposite ends of the table, and separated by a whopping 62 points, meet here as relegated Montpellier host champions Paris Saint-Germain. The home side come into the contest without a win in 13 league matches (D1, L12) and having scored a total of just two goals across that winless sequence, which is hardly the sort of form manager Zoumana Camara would have hoped to contribute to when he arrived last month. [/p]

[p]It’s not just bleak attacking displays Camara has had to try and contend with, but he’s also been tasked with trying to find a remedy for a leaking defence that has kept just a single clean sheet all season, although that did come in their last home game (0-0 v Reims). A second clean sheet of the season is unlikely to come here, with Montpellier conceding 41 goals across their last ten Ligue 1 games against PSG![/p]

[p]The French champions will come into this clash on a huge high after they secured their place in the UEFA Champions League final in midweek, seeing off Arsenal 3-1 on aggregate. Boss Luis Enrique might well make changes for this clash with that final at the end of May in mind, but that might not prove detrimental to the Parisians, who have won each of the last 11 Ligue 1 H2Hs.[/p]

[p]Despite that, there have been signs of PSG wavering now the title is secured and they’ve not won any of their previous three league games (D1, L2). Their 2-1 away defeat to Strasbourg last weekend ended the longest unbeaten away run in the history of Europe’s traditional big-five leagues (39 games), but PSG haven’t lost two successive Ligue 1 away games since January 2023. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Téji Savanier scored from the penalty spot in this fixture last season (L 6-2), while he’s also the top contributor this season for Montpellier (G2, A5), albeit he’s without a goal contribution since February. Bradley Barcola, scorer in PSG’s loss to Strasbourg, has been directly involved in six goals against Montpellier in Ligue 1 (G2, A4), more than against any other team.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Montpellier have conceded the opening goal 29 times in Ligue 1 and could equal the single-season record (since 1947/48) here set by Ajaccio in 2022/23. [/p]
