Montpellier vs Toulouse prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-10-26 16:00.
[p]After picking up just four points in their opening eight games of 2024/25, it was no surprise to see bottom-of-the-table Montpellier end Michel Der Zakarian’s second spell in charge of the club immediately after Sunday’s 5-0 Ligue 1 home defeat to Marseille. Succeeding the Armenian is Jean-Louis Gasset, who was replaced by Der Zakarian in the same job in 2017, and now begins his third spell at the helm, with Toulouse the visitors on Sunday.[/p]
[p]Gasset said at his latest unveiling that “when I saw the club suffering, I couldn’t not come back” and, after making 231 of his 235 league playing appearances for La Paillade alongside winning the UEFA Intertoto Cup as their manager in 1999, he has a stellar reputation at the Stade de la Mosson. However, the 70-year-old will need to work his magic immediately, particularly with the defence, which has conceded 25 times in the last seven games alone (W1, L6)![/p]
[p]Although Toulouse have been much meaner at the back, letting in 11 goals this campaign, they are just two points and three league places above Montpellier heading into the round. Their main issue has been finding the net, with a 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Le Havre the only time that they’ve scored 2+ goals this season.[/p]
[p]Carles MartĂnez Novell will be looking for his side’s first away victory this term (D1, L2), with their current league form on the road contrasting starkly to how they ended 2023/24, when they won four in a row and seven of their last eight (L1)! The Spaniard will also be hoping it’s a case of third time lucky against Montpellier after losing both H2Hs in his debut season in charge of Les Violets, including a 3-0 away defeat almost a year ago to the day. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Montpellier captain Téji Savanier has been heavily involved in five of his last six games against Toulouse (G2, A1, YC3, RC1), while in the last H2H, he got a goal and then received a card of both colours by the 65th minute! Yann Gboho meanwhile has contributed to four of Toulouse’s seven goals (G2, A2) this season, with all but one of the four coming after the hour mark.[/p]
[p]Hot stat: None of Montpellier’s last seven games have been goalless at half-time.[/p]
