Monza Empoli prediction 2025-05-18

Monza vs Empoli prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2025-05-17 18:45.
[p]Monza finally won a match last weekend, halting their 15-game winless run (D2, L13) by dramatically beating Udinese 2-1 last Sunday. That victory wasn’t enough to prevent them from finishing the campaign bottom of the table and making a return to the second tier after three years in the top flight, which means they’re playing to simply salvage some pride in their final two encounters of 2024/25.  [/p]

[p]The first of those fixtures is against fellow strugglers Empoli, who Monza have only beaten three times in the last 20 H2Hs (D6, L11). They also go into this clash with the worst home record in the division this season, having collected just eight out of an available 54 points (W1, D5, L12), although they have beaten Empoli at home in the last two Serie A campaigns. [/p]

[p]Empoli will be keen to avoid falling to a hat-trick of away H2H defeats, especially as another loss could spell the end of their own four-year Serie A stint. Roberto D’Aversa’s men sit 19th and a point adrift of safety, although a dramatic 2-1 victory over Parma last weekend has breathed new life into their battle against the drop.[/p]

[p]That success was Empoli’s first in the league in 2025, coming after a streak of 20 top-flight games without a win stretching back to December (D6, L14). Ten of those matches have been away from home (D3, L7), but there is still reason for visiting fans to be positive as they make the long trip north, as their side are unbeaten on the road this term against teams currently 13th or below (W2, D4) – with all four draws ending 1-1.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Keita Baldé ended a four-game scoring drought for Monza against Udinese, and he has netted a joint-career high four goals in seven meetings with Empoli (W5, D1, L1). He will have to escape the attention of Liam Henderson, who has committed more fouls (78) than any other Serie A player this campaign. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Monza have failed to win any of the 24 league matches in which they have conceded first this season (D4, L20). [/p]
