Nantes vs Lille prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2025-03-14 16:00.
[p]Nantes fell to their fourth defeat in their last five matches last Sunday, going down 1-0 at home to Strasbourg, and yet they are not being dragged into Ligue 1’s bottom three. Thanks to some even poorer performances from the four clubs below them, they still ended last weekend occupying the same 14th position in which they began 2025. [/p]
[p]Head coach Antoine Kombouaré is facing increasing pressure after his side registered an 11th consecutive game without a clean sheet, with Strasbourg scoring with their only shot on target. It was also just the third time that Nantes have been unable to find the net at the Stade de la Beaujoire this league campaign, drawing further attention to Kombouaré’s decision not to start attacker Moses Simon (six goals in 2024/25). [/p]
[p]Having been eliminated on Wednesday from the UEFA Champions League (UCL) by Borussia Dortmund, Lille know bouncing back with a win here will see them move into Ligue 1’s top three, at least momentarily. On the face of it then, scraping over the line in a 1-0 victory at home to bottom-of-the-table Montpellier last Saturday may not inspire too much confidence ahead of this clash.[/p]
[p]They’ve already struggled against lower-placed league opponents this term, dropping key points against Saint-Étienne (L 1-0 away), Le Havre (L 2-1 at home) and perhaps most pertinently, Nantes in January’s 1-1 draw. While that point extended Les Dogues’ unbeaten run to 19 H2Hs in all competitions (W14, D5), they have won just two of their seven away fixtures in 2025 (D2, L3), so the pressure is on to improve their form on the road in order to return to the UCL.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Of the six Ligue 1 goals Moses Simon has netted this season, four have proved decisive in victory. Jonathan David wasn’t on the scoresheet in the reverse fixture (1-1), ending a run of three personal H2Hs in which he has found the net in Lille victories. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: Lille have defeated Nantes in more Ligue 1 games this century (W23, D11, L4) than they have any other team. [/p]
