Nantes vs Reims prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-09-14 15:00.
[p]After narrowly avoiding relegation last term, Nantes have made a blistering start to the new campaign, conceding just one goal across their opening three Ligue 1 games and remaining undefeated in August (W2, D1). As club football resumes following the international break, Antoine Kombouaré’s side now have the chance to record three successive league wins for the first time since all the way back in December 2021. [/p]
[p]If they do so on Sunday against Reims, the Canaries will have won their first two home games in a Ligue 1 season for the first time since 2015. That’s an achievement which would have seemed impossible not so long ago for a club that won the joint-fewest home games and picked up the joint-fewest points at home in the French top flight last term. [/p]
[p]Completing that feat won’t be easy though as Reims have kept Nantes scoreless in each of the last four Ligue 1 H2Hs between the pair, and have been victorious in three of their last four visits to Stade de la Beaujoire (L1), including a 1-0 win last November. Heading into the international break with four points from their opening three matches of the campaign (W1, D1, L1), those recent H2H successes will give Luka Elsner’s Reims side hope of moving into the top half of the table come the end of the weekend. [/p]
[p]There is some personal history to be had for Elsner on Sunday too, if his side can follow up their win against Rennes last time out with another three points here. Appointed in the summer by Reims from Le Havre, he has taken charge of 65 Ligue 1 matches in his managerial career to date, but never achieved back-to-back victories! [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Nantes’ Marcus Coco has been booked in each of the two Ligue 1 games he’s started so far this season and he’s also received a yellow card three times in his career against Reims, while youngster Yaya Fofana has averaged a goal involvement every 78 minutes so far this season for Reims (G1, A1).[/p]
[p]Hot stat: This game hasn’t offered up much entertainment over the years, with nine of the last 11 H2Hs at Nantes producing under 2.5 goals for an average of 1.45 goals per game.[/p]
