Newcastle Leeds prediction 2022-12-31

Newcastle vs Leeds prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2022-12-30 15:00.
High-flying Newcastle are on the brink of history as they go in search of a 12th consecutive Premier League (PL) game without defeat for the first time. Eddie Howe’s side briefly moved up to second place in the table by hammering Leicester 3-0 on Boxing Day, picking up their sixth successive victory and equalling their club-best run of 11 unbeaten PL fixtures (W8, D3) in the process.

The stunning form has left full-back Kieran Trippier urging fans “to dream” as the Magpies look to secure European football for the first time in a decade. Sights are set much higher than the Europa League though, with Champions League football – a competition Newcastle last qualified for in 2003/04 – becoming a real possibility thanks to eight unbeaten league games this season at St James’ Park (W5, D3), the last three of which they won ‘to nil’.

The Magpies may be confident of extending that run against Leeds, who suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City on Wednesday. That was a sixth PL defeat in eight matches for the Whites (W2), who also have one of the worst away records in the division, thanks to picking up just four of an available 21 points on their travels (W1, D1, L5).

That means Jesse Marsch’s side are looking likely to become embroiled in dropzone drama for the second consecutive season, although they do have a potentially crucial game in hand on the teams around them. Despite losing their last two PL games and conceding ten goals over their prior three, the Leeds manager is dismissing any talk of relegation for now, insisting there is “enough quality in the team” to avoid a return to the Championship, despite admitting they have “work to do” to get back to their best.

Players to watch: Miguel AlmirĂłn has nine goals this campaign and has only ever lost once when scoring for the Magpies (W15, D4) – against Leeds at home in 2021! He will be aiming to outdo Rodrigo, who is Leeds’ top finisher this season also with nine strikes, while he has lost just one of his seven clashes with the Magpies (W4, D2).

Hot streak: Leeds’ last five Premier League outings have all contained at least three goals and seen both sides score.
