Newcastle vs Liverpool prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-12-03 19:30.
[p]After starting November with two Premier League victories, Newcastle United endured a disappointing end to the month, losing 2-0 at home to West Ham United and drawing 1-1 at Crystal Palace. The Magpies were winning at Selhurst Park on Saturday until they conceded in the 94th minute, after which boss Eddie Howe stated that his side “look a little bit low on confidence”.[/p]
[p]That’s a troubling sentiment ahead of the visit of high-flying Liverpool, especially since Newcastle haven’t beaten their upcoming opponents in any of the past 15 H2Hs (D4, L11). Despite that dismal record however, the Magpies can never be written off at St James’ Park, as they had lost just one out of 15 home games before the West Ham defeat (W9, D5), a run which included wins over Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur (twice), and a draw with Manchester City. [/p]
[p]But Liverpool seem to be a different beast, having just beaten the champions of Europe and Spain, Real Madrid, and the champions of England Manchester City (both 2-0) in the same week. The latter victory was their 18th win in 20 games this campaign (D1, L1), 11 of which have come in the league, helping to open up a nine-point lead at the top after matchday 13. [/p]
[p]The last time any Premier League leader enjoyed a bigger points lead over their nearest competitor at this stage of the season was in 1993/94 (Manchester United) with 11, proving how unbelievable Arne Slot’s start to his Liverpool tenure has been. Possessing the best defence in the division with just eight goals conceded thus far has arguably been the biggest factor in their success, but the Reds have shown chinks in that armour, having let in two goals in each of their last three away games. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Liverpudlian Anthony Gordon would love to get on the scoresheet, just as he did in last season’s corresponding fixture, which kickstarted a run of netting ten of his last 13 Premier League goals at home. The real hero that day though was Darwin Núñez, who got a brace off the bench to win the game for ten-man Liverpool – he’ll be looking to score at St James’ Park for a third successive visit. [/p]
[p]Hot streak: None of Liverpool’s last six away matches have been decided by more than a one-goal margin (W5, D1).[/p]
