Newcastle Manchester Utd prediction 2023-12-02

Newcastle vs Manchester Utd prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2023-12-01 20:00.
[p]A classic fixture headlines Saturday’s Premier League (PL) action, as Newcastle United welcome Manchester United to Tyneside with both teams bruised from midweek UEFA Champions League (UCL) disappointments. The Magpies conceded a controversial 98th-minute Kylian Mbappé penalty to draw with PSG, a decision which boss Eddie Howe diplomatically described as “poor” as he saw control of his side’s European fate snatched from their grasp.[/p]

[p]A return to the PL should help heal those wounds, despite their still lengthy absentee list, as Newcastle have lost just one of their last nine in this competition (W6, D2). The league’s joint second-most prolific attack ahead of this round has helped that charge, as has turning St James’ Park into a fortress with the Magpies winning five consecutive PL matches there – only big guns Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal have won on Tyneside in the league since Howe’s appointment in November 2021![/p]

[p]Manchester United will be looking to add their name to that list, but as they’ve won just one of the last five H2Hs meetings (D2, L2), they’d have to upset the form book to do so amid their own injury issues. The sole victory did come in the League Cup final earlier in the year, but the Red Devils have already been eliminated from that competition by Newcastle this term (L 3-0), while their chances of progression in Europe now also look bleak.[/p]

[p]For the third time in five UCL matches, United squandered the lead to drop points in a breathless 3-3 draw with Galatasaray. Manager Erik ten Hag lamented his side’s inability to manage the game, but PL form has been much better with his side winning five of their last six games (L1). That includes an active four-match winning streak on the road and they’ve not managed five such victories in succession since the winter of 2020![/p]

[p]Players to watch: Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon scored and assisted in his side’s 4-1 win over Chelsea last weekend, also netting the winner in a 1-0 victory over United while he was an Everton player. United captain Bruno Fernandes has failed to score in his last five meetings with the Magpies, but was on target in his three prior H2Hs. He’s also scored or assisted in four of his last five appearances for United.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Man Utd have conceded 33 goals from their opening 20 games in all competitions this season – their highest total at this stage since the 1962/63 season![/p]
