Newcastle vs Tottenham prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-08-31 12:30.
[p]Less than five months after Newcastle sparked Tottenham’s dramatic tumble out of UEFA Champions League contention with a 4-0 win, they will again host Spurs with both clubs harbouring ambitions of a top-four finish. Describing Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium as “a difficult ground to play at”, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was pleased with his team taking one point home despite acknowledging there is plenty of room for improvement. [/p]
[p]They’re now out to win two of their first three games of a new league season for the first time since 2011 and there’s no better place to do it than at home, where the Magpies are undefeated in nine Premier League matches (W5, D4) since January’s famous late collapse against Manchester City. Howe also hailed the well-timed return of marquee signing Sandro Tonali from a ten-month betting ban, backing him to “repay the trust” shown by the club during the tumultuous period. [/p]
[p]It’ll be no easy feat to get that second win however, as visitors Tottenham put four unanswered goals past Everton at home last weekend to equal their greatest Premier League winning margin since May 2022. Hinting that the players had some lingering self-doubt after failing to defeat Leicester City in their opening game of this season (D 1-1 away), head coach Ange Postecoglou emphatically declared “there is more” to come following that 4-0 win.[/p]
[p]If Tottenham are to return to the Champions League after a two-season absence, it will likely depend on accumulating more away points against elite opposition than they did in the previous term. Of the nine clubs to finish with at least 50 points last Premier League season, Spurs were able to win on the road against just one of them (D3, L4) – 4-0 at Aston Villa – conceding 2+ goals on all but one of the other seven occasions. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Newcastle’s only scorer from their previous Premier League home game, Joelinton, also found the net in each of his last two appearances against Spurs. Son Heung-min was back on the scoresheet last weekend and could be instrumental to Tottenham’s success, having scored in each of their last three H2H victories. [/p]
[p]Hot streak: The last seven Premier League H2Hs all produced over 2.5 total goals, with six even exceeding 4+ goals.[/p]
