Nigeria Tanzania prediction 2025-12-23

Nigeria vs Tanzania prediction: AFRICA: Africa Cup of Nations betting tips on match 2025-12-22 17:30.
[p]The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations runners-up Nigeria begin their 2025 campaign against the 2027 co-hosts Tanzania in Fez.[/p]

[p]Match News and Current Form[/p]

[p]After reaching the final and losing to hosts Ivory Coast in the last edition, Nigeria will be looking to go one step better this time and claim their fourth AFCON title. It was 12 years ago when the Super Eagles last lifted the trophy and there was further disappointment for their supporters after they failed to qualify for their second consecutive FIFA World Cup finals last month. Éric Chelle, in charge since early January, took his birth-country of Mali to the quarter finals in the 2023 competition, although expectations are unusually low for this side due to injuries and following successive defeats against D.R Congo and Egypt.[/p]

[p]Back-to-back wins over Ethiopia and Guinea across the final two rounds of fixtures saw Tanzania finish in second place in AFCON qualification Group H and secure their third finals in the last four editions. Qualifying for the tournament was not enough to keep head coach Hemed Suleiman in his post though, with Argentine Miguel Gamondi named as his replacement in early November. Gamondi will be tasked with securing a first victory in the competition for the Taifa Stars at the tenth attempt (D3, L6) while he also needs to reverse their current form which has seen them fail to record a win in any of their last seven fixtures (D2, L5) and lose their last four.[/p]

[p]Head-to-Head History[/p]

[p]This will be the ninth H2H between the sides and Tanzania are still waiting for their first win (D3, L5), while Nigeria have kept a clean sheet in each of the last four meetings.[/p]

[p]Hot Stats and Streaks[/p]

[p]Nigeria have not lost any of their last six AFCON group stage games (W5, D1).[/p]

[p]Seven of Nigeria’s last eight matches have been level at half-time.[/p]

[p]Tanzania have failed to keep a clean sheet across their last six fixtures.[/p]

[p]Tanzania have not scored in six of their last eight AFCON matches.[/p]

[p]Key Players to Watch and Missing Players[/p]

[p]Ademola Lookman contributed to four goals (G3, A1) in the last edition of this tournament, including an assist in the group opener. After the team had failed to score in five of their six previous games, Charles M’Mombwa was involved in all three of Tanzania’s goals (G2, A1) in their last fixture.[/p]

[p]Ola Aina and Benjamin Fredrick are notable injury absentees and have not made the Nigeria squad, while Tanzania appear to have no injury issues at this stage.[/p]

[p]Betting Analysis[/p]

[p]With Nigeria’s strong group stage form and Tanzania’s AFCON goalscoring issues, we recommend backing a Nigeria win accompanied by a clean sheet.[/p]
