Nijmegen vs G.A. Eagles prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2022-10-22 12:30.
Their long string of draws finally came to an end last week, but not quite in the way NEC Nijmegen would have desired. The Nijmegen side had drawn seven games in a row, but went down 2-0 at Sparta last weekend. NEC held the ball a lot at Het Kasteel, but managed to create only a few rare chances in spite of that.
Last Wednesday, NEC reached the next round of the KNVB Cup at the expense of Fortuna Sittard (3-2), in a game that was special in many ways for the home side. Not only did NEC record its first home victory of the season, but it was only the first time this calendar year that NEC managed to score multiple goals in a home match. It was not the perfect performance, however: for the second game in a row, NEC conceded multiple goals – something that their defensive unit had prevented throughout the 2022/23 season prior.
Meanwhile, Go Ahead Eagles have also developed a habit of remaining unbeaten in league football. The club from Deventer did not collect a single point in its first five outings, but it has since made amends with five Eredivisie games without a loss (W2, D3). The highlight of that run was undoubtedly the draw at Ajax (1-1), but the victory over Helmond Sport that secured their place in the next round of the KNVB Cup will also have boosted the Deventers' confidence.
Go Ahead has had a mixed recent history against their upcoming opposition. Earlier this year, it knocked NEC out of the KNVB Cup by winning 0-2 at the Goffert Stadium, but Go Ahead is also the only club to have lost a game to NEC (1-0) in that same venue this calendar year.
Players to watch: Finn Stokkers was involved in Go Ahead's only two goals in his last three games in the Eredivisie, with a goal and an assist. For the visitors, Oussama Tannane has produced five assists in his last seven games for NEC.
Hot streak: NEC's last four home games in the Eredivisie all ended in a 1-1 draw.
