Northern Ireland Denmark prediction 2023-11-20

Northern Ireland vs Denmark prediction: EUROPE: Euro – Qualification betting tips on match 2023-11-19 19:45.
It’s proved to be an abysmal European Championship qualifying (ECQ) campaign for Northern Ireland, which somehow got even worse in midweek as the Green and White Army crashed to a heavy 4-0 defeat in Finland. That made it seven losses from nine ECQ outings for Michael O'Neill’s side this cycle (W2), with both those wins coming against San Marino – FIFA’s current lowest ranked nation.

The hosts will be looking to save some pride here at Windsor Park then as they welcome Denmark, a nation they lost just 1-0 to in the reverse fixture. That was one of six ECQ outings in this cycle in which they have failed to score though, as a lack of attacking firepower has sunk their hopes of qualification for next year’s tournament and has seen them lose three of their last four home ECQ outings by a 1-0 scoreline!

In complete contrast to their opposition here, visiting Denmark have now won five straight ECQ matches and as a result, they’ll take part in Euro 2024 in Germany next summer. It’ll be the country's ninth appearance across the last 11 finals, and they’ll be looking to go one better than their semi-final elimination in 2020, and try to emulate their heroics from back in 1992 when they won the competition to shock the entire continent.

This time around, Denmark’s strong defensive line has proved to be the key building block for their success as they’ve conceded multiple goals in a game just once in nine outings. Here, the away side’s main motivation will be to extend their unbeaten run in this qualification cycle to eight matches (W6, D1) to top off an ECQ campaign that has already seen them win more matches than any other in their history.

Players to watch: Dion Charles is the only player to score more than once for Northern Ireland in this ECQ campaign, whilst he has nine goals in 15 club league appearances for Bolton this season. Denmark’s Jonas Wind will be hoping to bring his club form with him to Belfast as he’s struck eight Bundesliga goals for Wolfsburg this season, with three of the last four coming before half-time.

Hot stat: Denmark have recorded 143 shots so far in ECQ – the second-most of any nation.
