Norwich vs Coventry prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-09-02 14:00.
After a rocky start to their Championship campaign, which saw them pick up just one point from their first three games, Norwich have gone from the relegation spots to the play-off places after notching four straight league victories for the first time since March 2021. Sealing their latest 2-1 triumph over Birmingham through a dramatic injury-time strike, Norwich manager Dean Smith spoke of his side “grinding” out wins.
Determined displays have been a recent theme for Norwich, who have netted after the 70th minute in their last three league outings, including two winners, whilst also keeping two shutouts in the process. Despite often being the whipping boys in the Premier League, the Canaries are strong in this division, particularly at home where they have lost just two of their last 24 Championship home matches (W16, D6), and only been beaten twice on the previous 12 occasions that they have conceded the first goal!
One might feel slightly sorry for opponents here Coventry, who played at their home venue for the first time this season after weeks of repair work, only to lose 1-0 to Preston. With a miserly one point from their opening four encounters, Coventry are rooted to the bottom of the Championship standings, and whilst they have games in hand, they are winless in their last eight Championship outings (D3, L5) so need improvements fast.
The last thing they wanted was another away trip then, particularly to a Norwich side that have hit form and are so difficult to beat on their home patch in this league. To make matters worse they haven’t won away in their last five league outings (D3, L2) and haven’t beaten Norwich in six previous H2Hs (D2, L4), so it would be a turn up for the books if they were to clip the Canaries here!
Players to watch: After returning from loan, Cuban forward Onel Hernández stated that Norwich “changed my life”, although it’s the Canaries who might hope he can become their lifesaver again, after he netted his first goal of the season in their late victory last time out. Meanwhile, Coventry forward Matt Godden has scored their last three away goals, although all arrived in 3-2 defeats (L2).
Hot streak: Coventry have conceded before half-time in four successive Championship away games (D2, L2).
