Norwich vs Preston prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-12-08 15:00.
A 95th minute winner last weekend saw Norwich City beat and leapfrog Bristol City as they came from behind to climb up to 13th in the Championship. That result means that the Canaries are now four points from the play-off positions and targeting their fourth win in five (L1), quite the turnaround from their previous form of one victory from ten games (D1, L8)!
David Wagner’s side have failed to score in only one match so far this season and they certainly could be classed as the great entertainers of the division, with an average of 3.6 goals from their 19 league games. Although the average does drop to 2.78 at home, we could be in for a goal fest on Saturday as they hit four the last time they played Preston North End in January, and it was a five-goal thriller in their last meeting at Carrow Road last October.
For North End fans, that 3-2 win from last autumn will seem a distant memory as they make the 524 mile round trip hoping to see their side turn around their miserable form which has seen them pick up only two victories from their last 12 (D3, L7). And on the road, the further they travel the less points they seem to pick up with only one win, at near-neighbours Blackburn, from their last six away games (D1, L4).
A 2-0 home loss to QPR last Friday means that Ryan Lowe brings his team to East Anglia looking to end a run of three straight defeats, but he believes in his squad and pointed out that the “last time we lost three on the bounce we went on and got some good results.” That may be easier said than done for the Lilywhites though, who have beaten Norwich only twice in their last ten clashes (D4, L4).
Players to watch: Norwich midfielder Gabriel Sara has contributed to at least one goal in each of the last five home matches (G3, A3) and has registered eight assists this season, while ever-present Preston centre-half Liam Lindsay has scored all three of his goals away from home.
Hot stat: Preston have scored the first goal in only one of their last six away matches.
