Pachuca vs Salzburg prediction: WORLD: FIFA Club World Cup betting tips on match 2025-06-18 22:00.
[p]Mexican side Pachuca have made a joint-national record five prior appearances at the Club World Cup (CWC), and they get their campaign underway against FC Salzburg, who are the first Austrian side to play in the competition.[/p]
[p]Match News and Current Form[/p]
[p]Pachuca qualified for this CWC as the winners of the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup, but things have changed drastically since then. Guillermo Almada guided them to that success, but left just three weeks ago after they were knocked out of the Liga MX Clausura in the quarter finals. His replacement, former Mexico manager Jaime Lozano, secured a victory on penalties against fellow CWC participants, Al Ahly, in his only game in charge, a result which should be a boost for a side who had won only one of their five previous games (D2, L2).[/p]
[p]Salzburg arrive at the CWC in much stronger form after they won three of their last four matches (L1) in the Austrian Bundesliga. Even that strong finish wasn’t enough for the Red Bulls to regain the title which they surrendered 12 months earlier after winning it in each of the ten previous campaigns! In international competition, the Austrians have struggled of late, losing seven of their eight league phase fixtures in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, conceding the joint-highest number of goals (27) in those games.[/p]
[p]Head-to-Head History[/p]
[p]These teams have never previously met in competitive action, with Pachuca’s only previous clash with European opposition in this competition coming in the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup final when they lost 3-0 to Real Madrid.[/p]
[p]Hot Stats and Streaks[/p]
[p]Only two of Pachuca’s 12 matches under the previous CWC format ended level (W4, L6).[/p]
[p]Pachuca have failed to score in three of their last five competitive fixtures.[/p]
[p]Salzburg have kept only one clean sheet across their last nine games.[/p]
[p]Across their last four fixtures in international competition, Salzburg have conceded 17 times.[/p]
[p]Key Players to Watch and Missing Players[/p]
[p]Across the domestic league campaign, Salomon Rondon had more goal contributions (G15, A5) than any other Pachuca player, taking 102 shots across the campaign, more than twice as many as any of his teammates. Petar Ratkov ended the Austrian Bundesliga season with two goals and three assists across Salzburg’s final three victories but he’s never contributed to a single goal in a continental tournament.[/p]
[p]Pachuca look to have a near fully-fit squad, while Salzburg are still without striker Karim Konaté who has been out since November with a torn cruciate ligament.[/p]
[p]Betting Analysis[/p]
[p]Salzburg are narrow favourites to win this game, but after netting ten goals across their last four matches, including six from their last two, perhaps better value can be found in backing the Austrians to score over two goals in this fixture.[/p]
