Paraguay Uruguay prediction 2025-06-05

Paraguay vs Uruguay prediction: SOUTH AMERICA: World Championship – Qualification betting tips on match 2025-06-05 23:00.
[p]Paraguay have failed to reach any of the last three World Cups, but thanks to the remarkable form they have found since Gustavo Alfaro’s appointment midway through the current qualification cycle, they now look well placed to book their spot in the 2026 edition. Still yet to taste defeat under Alfaro’s tutelage, they are now eight games unbeaten (W4, D4), and with five wins from seven home games in this cycle (D1, L1), that record could be extended here.[/p]

[p]Needing to finish in the top six of the CONMEBOL league table to automatically book their spot in next year’s tournament, Los Guaraníes sit fifth, six points better off than seventh-placed Venezuela. Given their recent uptick in form, Paraguay should be confident of getting over the line, but with their next three fixtures pitting them against three of the four nations currently above them, starting with Uruguay, the job is far from done just yet.[/p]

[p]La Celeste won the first-ever World Cup on home soil back in 1930, and are closing in on qualification for a fifth successive edition of the tournament. Marcelo Bielsa’s side sit third, but are level on points with Paraguay, and they haven’t had an easy time of it since returning to action in this qualifying cycle after a third-place finish in last summer’s Copa América.[/p]

[p]A run of just one win in their last eight qualification matches (D5, L2) hasn’t exactly been inspiring, but it does include four goalless stalemates, with September’s reverse fixture against Paraguay being the first of those. Uruguay know that a win here would mark a big step towards securing their qualification, and history suggests that the omens are with them here having pieced together an 11-match unbeaten H2H run (W6, D5).[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Antonio Sanabria has contributed to four of Paraguay’s last five home goals in this qualification cycle (G3, A1), with three of those contributions recorded in the second half. Manuel Ugarte has already served two suspensions in this qualification cycle, and is one yellow card away from another ban. His four cautions in this cycle all came in the first half.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Paraguay haven’t conceded more than once in any of their last 13 home World Cup qualifiers. [/p]
