Poland Faroe Islands prediction 2023-09-07

Poland vs Faroe Islands prediction: EUROPE: Euro – Qualification betting tips on match 2023-09-06 18:45.
As the halfway point of the UEFA European Championship qualification approaches, Group E’s highest-ranked side, Poland (FIFA rank: #26), may already be in “do or die” mode after a faltering start to their campaign saw them lose two of their opening three matches (W1). They opened with a 3-1 loss to the Czech Republic before narrowly getting past Albania 1-0 to steady the ship, but a shocking 3-2 loss to the group's lowest-ranked team in Moldova last time out has their backs firmly against the wall.

Those two defeats equal the number of losses suffered in their qualification campaigns for Euro 2016 and 2022 combined, putting what would be their fifth successive appearance at the Euro finals in jeopardy. If the Eagles are to make the trip to Germany for Euro 2024 next year, capitalising on home-ground advantage and continuing their current three-game winning streak on Polish soil is a must.

Especially since they’re hosting the only team propping them up off the foot of the Group E table and a side ranked over 100 places below them by FIFA, the Faroe Islands (#129). Håkan Ericson’s side only have a single point to show for their qualification efforts so far, having opened with a 1-1 draw against Moldova before losing to the Czech Republic and Albania 3-0 and 3-1 successively.

It seems like the wait will go on for the Faroe Islands to qualify for their first major tournament unless they can take advantage of a wounded Poland to claim what would be their first-ever H2H win (L3). The visitors have been known to spring an upset in such circumstances, considering six of their last seven qualification campaigns for major tournaments have featured at least one win.

Players to watch: Poland’s all-time top goalscorer Robert Lewandowski has only lost one game in 29 goalscoring outings at home for his country (W24, D4). Meanwhile, Jóan Símun Edmundsson could easily serve as the Faroe Islands’ good luck charm, having won six of the eight internationals he’s scored in.

Hot stat: There have been less than 2.5 goals scored in nine of Poland’s last 12 matches.
