Portugal Spain prediction 2025-06-08

Portugal vs Spain prediction: EUROPE: UEFA Nations League – League A – Play Offs betting tips on match 2025-06-07 19:00.
[p]Two of the three previous competition winners meet at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Sunday in the final of the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League (UNL) in what will be the first ever all-Iberian final in any major competition. Portugal booked their place in Sunday’s showpiece event on Wednesday when they came from behind to record a 2-1 win over Germany – the first time they had won that particular fixture in 25 years![/p]

[p]Roberto MartĂnez will now be targeting a first victory for his current side over his birthplace Spain since 2010 (D4, L2), with Portugal failing to win either of their two previous UNL H2Hs (D1, L1) and scoring just once across the last four meetings overall. Finding the back of the net has not been an issue for them in this UNL campaign though, having scored 2+ goals in six of their nine games (W6, D2, L1) and six goals from the hour mark onwards, including extra time, over their last two matches.[/p]

[p]Spain began this UNL cycle with a goalless draw away at Serbia but have won seven of their eight subsequent fixtures (D1), scoring 23 times in the process, excluding their penalty-shootout triumph over the Netherlands at the quarter-final stage. They confirmed their spot in the final after a thrilling 5-4 victory over France on Thursday night, a game which ended up being a lot closer than anyone expected when Luis de la Fuente’s men led 4-0 after 55 minutes and 5-1 going into the 79th minute.[/p]

[p]Currently European champions and UNL holders, Spain will be contesting their third successive final in the latter competition. They lost 2-1 to France at San Siro in 2021, before beating Croatia on penalties in Rotterdam two years later, and victory here will see them go to next year’s FIFA World Cup with the opportunity of holding all three major international trophies open to them. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Nuno Mendes has provided an assist in all six of Portugal’s UNL wins during this campaign, with the last five all coming in the second half of matches. Lamine Yamal scored Spain’s third and fifth goals against France, while the 17-year-old is still yet to lose a game when starting for his country (W13, D3)![/p]

[p]Hot stat: Spain have not conceded the first goal in any of their last ten fixtures (W8, D2).[/p]
