PSV Excelsior prediction 2024-01-13

PSV vs Excelsior prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2024-01-12 20:00.
PSV Eindhoven only has to deal with Excelsior Rotterdam on Saturday evening and then they can boast about the rare feat of having defeated every opponent in the first half of the competition. With 16 victories from their first 16 matches, the Eindhoven team are comfortably at the top of the Eredivisie and are on their way to breaking several more records. Peter Bosz will probably have more players to choose from in the forward line from this weekend onwards, because Noa Lang and Hirving Lozano are on their way back from their injuries.

At some point in the course of the season, PSV will probably drop points, but there appears little chance that that will happen this weekend. After all, PSV has been unbeaten against Excelsior for 22 consecutive head-to-head games and has already struck 18 times in the last four editions alone. We may also see more of Tygo Land in the main force this year. The talented midfielder was rewarded this week on his 18th birthday with a permanent move to the senior team squad.

Due to a good start to the season, Excelsior is still a few places away from the relegation zone, despite completing 11 consecutive competitive matches in a row without a win in regular time (D7, L4). Marinus Dijkhuizen's men qualified for the next round of the KNVB Cup in their last match of 2023, but needed the additional 30 minutes against the amateurs of SV Spakenburg.

The Rotterdam club is the ‘king of draws’ this season with eight stalemates from their first 16 Eredivisie matches. In addition, Excelsior is by far the most productive team on the bottom half of the standings with 27 goals and there is a real chance that the Kralingers will score another goal in Eindhoven, because both teams found the net on the day in Excelsior's last ten matches.

Players to watch: PSV captain Luuk de Jong has been involved in five goals in his last four meetings with Excelsior (G3, A2), whilst Lazaros Lamprou can refute exactly the same figures from his last six appearances for Excelsior.

Hot stat: PSV secured a multiple-goal winning margin in all but one of their 16 Eredivisie wins this season.
