RB Leipzig B. Monchengladbach prediction 2024-02-17

RB Leipzig vs B. Monchengladbach prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-02-16 17:30.
RB Leipzig have had reduced time to prepare for this Bundesliga clash after their midweek 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League, and they enter Saturday’s primetime Bundesliga clash in rather tepid domestic form so far in 2024 (W1, D1, L3). That middling run of results has seen them concede a joint league-high 11 goals this year and has left Leipzig outside of the top four ahead of the round, desperately needing points to keep the pressure on those above.

A visit from Borussia Mönchengladbach could be timely as Leipzig have never lost against them in seven Bundesliga home H2Hs (W4, D3). Maintaining that record may well require at least a couple of goals, as Leipzig enter this on the back of just one clean sheet across their last 12 league outings, although a return of five clean sheets from seven games against sides beginning the round 13th or lower (W5, D1, L1) may soothe those fears.

Entering this clash in even worse domestic form are Gladbach, who have posted their worst four-game start to a season’s second half in the top-flight since 2013/14 (D2, L2). That form has left the Foals languishing just six points above the drop zone ahead of the round with the potential of being dragged into a relegation scrap, as three of the four sides below them all picked up at least a point last weekend.

Although Gladbach’s games haven’t been too kind to their loyal travelling faithful, their road trips have at least been highly entertaining for the neutral, producing a league-high 4.5 total goals per match on average. Granted, most of those goals tend to be for the host sides, who have put at least three goals past this porous Gladbach backline in five of their last seven away games (D2, L5).

Players to watch: Leipzig’s Xavi Simons picked up January’s Bundesliga Goal of the Month award for his skilful turn to net the match opener against Leverkusen – that was his third home league goal in succession that opened the scoring. Gladbach's hopes could rest on Jordan Siebatcheu’s shoulders after he contributed to their only two goals across their last four league games (G1, A1).

Hot streak: Gladbach are winless across their last eight televised Saturday evening Bundesliga games (D3, L5), but their last such win did come against Leipzig.
