RB Leipzig Union Berlin prediction 2024-09-14

RB Leipzig vs Union Berlin prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-09-13 13:30.
[p]One of just three teams left in the Bundesliga with a 100% winning record after two rounds, RB Leipzig have made the perfect start in their quest to secure a seventh-successive top-four finish. It was their second league win of the season which was the most eye-catching, as they beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-2, coming from 2-0 down to end their opponent’s 35-game unbeaten Bundesliga run. [/p]

[p]Leverkusen were actually the last side to beat Leipzig at home in the top-flight back in January, with the Red Bulls stringing together an unbeaten eight game league run in such matches since (W6, D2). History would suggest they can keep that run going against a Union Berlin side they’ve had the edge over on home soil down the years (W6, L2), while last season they secured a H2H league double without conceding a single goal![/p]

[p]Union will feel that record only tells half the story, as they’ll be quick to point out that only league juggernauts Bayern Munich (eight) and Borussia Dortmund (seven) have inflicted more Bundesliga defeats upon Leipzig than they have (five). They might have a degree of confidence that they could make that six H2H wins after their own positive start to the Bundesliga campaign (W1, D1). [/p]

[p]But matchday three has a Groundhog Day feel to it for Union, as last season after winning their opening two league games, they strung together a ten-match winless run after it (D1, L9). As fate would have it, the matchday three defeat that sparked that run came against none other than Leipzig (3-0), and with a dreadful recent record across their last 24 top-flight away games (W3, D6, L15), they must be fearing a repeat of history here.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Leipzig’s Benjamin Ĺ eško was on target after half-time in both H2Hs last season – his last 11 Bundesliga goals arrived between the 30th and 70th minute and he comes into this clash fresh off scoring a sensational solo goal for Slovenia on Monday. Benedict Hollerbach struck Union’s winner against St. Pauli before the international break, with that serving as the fourth of his last five club goals to open the scoring. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: These two sides have never played out a Bundesliga draw in ten meetings, winning five each.  [/p]
