Real Sociedad Leganes prediction 2025-02-23

Real Sociedad vs Leganes prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2025-02-22 20:00.
[p]The pressure is intensifying on Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil, whose contract is up in the summer, after his side suffered a fifth loss from their last seven La Liga matches last weekend (W2), although he continues to insist that he has the backing of the club. Alguacil also argued that an unwarranted first-half sending off for centre back Igor Zubeldia tilted what was initially a balanced contest with Real Betis (L 3-0) last Sunday. [/p]

[p]The under-fire boss oversaw a 5-2 win in Europe in midweek to progress to the last-16, but Alguacil can’t hide from the fact his team have now failed to score in five of their last eight league games. Whilst they may be encouraged by the visit of Leganés as they put three goals past them in the reverse H2H (W 3-0), that was at the back end of a period of five wins from seven league matches (L2), almost the complete opposite of what they have managed since that H2H.[/p]

[p]Leganés got over their own goal scoring issues with a 3-3 draw at home to Alavés, albeit with two of their strikes coming from the penalty spot. That draw means they enter this round just one point above the relegation zone, and as one of a handful of La Liga clubs to have not won any of their last four league matches (D2, L2), their time in the top tier of Spanish football is becoming increasingly perilous. [/p]

[p]Their successes have been few and far between, but 1-0 wins against both Barcelona (away) and Atlético Madrid (home) are a lingering reminder of what they can do at their best, while failures to win away to the likes of Valencia (L 2-0), Alavés (D 1-1) and Valladolid (D 0-0) shine them in a different light. Whichever Leganés side turns up in San Sebastian will be hoping to record the club’s inaugural win away to Real Sociedad at the fifth attempt (D2, L2). [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Sociedad stalwart Mikel Oyarzabal was on the scoresheet in each of his last two competitive meetings with Leganés and has six goals across his last six H2Hs. Dani Raba became the first Leganés player in La Liga history to score two penalty goals in the same game last weekend and now has four goals across all 2024/25 competitions, all of which arrived before the hour mark. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Leganés have one of the league’s best win-draw rates (67%; W1, D7, L4) as an away outsider in La Liga this season. [/p]
