Reims Lorient prediction 2023-10-28

Reims vs Lorient prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-10-27 15:00.
Saturday’s Ligue 1 (L1) action gets underway at the Stade Auguste-Delaune where sixth-placed Reims will look to get back on track after a pair of winless league outings (D1, L1). Despite their wobble, Will Still’s men finished the previous matchday in sixth place, their equal-highest placing after nine rounds of a top flight season since 1976/77! It’s a remarkable return for one of the most diverse sides in Europe, which featured players of ten different nationalities in their previous home starting lineup.

A home return could be a bonus for Reims, who have alternated between wins and defeats at home so far this season (W2, L2) in a pattern that recently continued with a 3-1 defeat against Monaco. It would be something of a shock if Reims lost again on this occasion, as they’ve not fallen to back-to-back home league defeats in more than a year, with their last three home league losses seeing them bounce back with a win ‘to nil’ in their following Ligue 1 outing at home.

Lorient will travel to Reims on cloud nine after winning 2-1 against their great Breton rivals Rennes to end an unwanted five-game winless run (W1, D2, L3). Consequently, Lorient are now unbeaten in each of their last seven Ligue 1 games when leading at half-time (W6, D1), a run which began following a 4-2 defeat in February to none other than Reims!

That away H2H defeat is part of a rather humiliating run of away form which has seen Lorient win just once across their last 14 Ligue 1 trips (D5, L8). Each of the last three games during that sequence saw them concede at least three times, despite scoring first within 20 minutes, and exactly three times in total in each of their latest two away league outings (D 3-3 at Lyon and L 5-3 at Nantes).

Key battle: Reims’ Amir Richardson scored his team’s opening goal with four of his five goals at club level, although he was not on the winning side in any of his last three scoring appearances (D2, L1). Trying to stop him will be swashbuckling Lorient defender Isaak Touré, the man who scored his side’s winning goal in the Breton derby to end their awful run of form.

Hot stat: Reims are one of just two Ligue 1 sides, along with Lille, to score in every Ligue 1 game this season.
