Rennes vs Montpellier prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-09-14 13:00.
[p]After back-to-back away defeats prior to the international break, the pause probably came at a good time for Rennes, who have three points to show for their efforts so far this term. They’ll be glad to return to Roazhon Park where they collected those three points on matchday one against Lyon (3-0), and the sight of Montpellier is sure to be a pleasant one for the hosts.[/p]
[p]Rennes are unbeaten in nine home H2Hs (W7, D2), with the last five of those all ending in victory – a run which should boost belief that they can win back-to-back home league games for the first time since February. This game falling on a Sunday adds a note of caution as far as that’s concerned, as Rennes have lost six of their last eight Sunday-held Ligue 1 matches (W1, D1).  [/p]
[p]Only four sides come into the fourth round of the Ligue 1 season without a win to their name, and Montpellier are one of them (D1, L2). Like their hosts, Montpellier headed into the international break on the back of successive defeats, but it was the nature of those losses that will be most concerning to boss Michel Der Zakarian, who saw his side go down by a 9-1 aggregate score in those matches. [/p]
[p]Der Zakarian cited issues at both ends of the pitch for his side’s 3-1 defeat against Nantes before the break. The boss challenged his side to be more present in front of goal, and they could be just that on the road, as their 6-0 drubbing at PSG earlier this season is actually their only defeat across their last seven top-flight away games (W4, D2).[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Rennes’ Ludovic Blas has registered either a goal or an assist in every league game he’s played this season (G1, A2) and three of his last five personal H2Hs against Montpellier saw his side on the day keep a clean sheet. Akor Adams is one of just two goalscorers for Montpellier this season, but if he’s to build on his tally he may have to be patient, as four of his five away goals for the club came after the 70th minute. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: Montpellier haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last nine Ligue 1 games. [/p]
