Rotherham Norwich prediction 2023-09-02

Rotherham vs Norwich prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-09-01 14:00.
After just about scraping a first successful Championship survival campaign in seven years back in the spring, Rotherham are already getting that sinking feeling once again. After a late losing goal against Leicester last time out, their return of just a solitary point so far already compares unfavourably to the four-game tally the Millers had in each of their previous three Championship relegation campaigns suffered within the past decade.

While Rotherham can feel aggrieved about a disallowed goal against the Foxes, they need that first three-point maximum relatively soon. But there is little to suggest that this will be the game to produce it, with the Millers looking back on just one win (and clean sheet) in six home league games. Add in a negative Championship record as home underdogs during their current second-tier spell (W4, D5, L6), and the outlook seems impenetrably bleak.

While Norwich have a yo-yo reputation themselves, the exact opposite applies to them if going by the formbook. A 4-0 rout of Huddersfield just across Yorkshire boosted them into second place, and their haul of ten points from the first 12 is better than those seen in both promotion seasons of the Daniel Farke era, making this a huge opportunity for David Wagner’s men.

Norwich’s win at Huddersfield also kept up their 100% rate of scoring 2+ goals in Championship action so far this term. And while you would have to go back to January to find the most recent time the East Anglians managed to rack up successive away league wins, they will surely feel confident of sealing a fifth win in six visits to Rotherham.

Players to watch: Wilfred Onyedinma gave Rotherham hope of a point vs Leicester last weekend. Both of his prior goals this term – as well as being second overall on the day – have come via headers. In opposition, Jonathan Rowe is aiming to take his 100% hit rate in the Championship into a fifth game, having seen his last two league goals open the scoring.

Hot stat: Each of Norwich’s previous five visits to Rotherham have produced the same 2-1 scoreline!
