Rotherham Plymouth prediction 2024-04-05

Rotherham vs Plymouth prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2024-04-04 19:00.
[p]Courtesy of their late victory against Millwall on Easter Monday, Rotherham lived to fight another day, but they’re now only able to survive on goal difference. Even if they pull another win out of the hat on Friday night, results elsewhere over the weekend could confirm their relegation. The Millers’ Monday success brought just a fourth win of a dismal campaign, all of which came at home, and was just the seventh time they’ve scored 2+ goals.[/p]

[p]Bringing an end to a winless run of 15 league games (D4, L11), United did it the hard way against Millwall, finding a late winner after conceding a 78th-minute equaliser. Conceding that leveller was no surprise as Leam Richardson’s side have only scored four goals to date in the Championship which haven’t been cancelled out by their opponent! The soft nature of the side is also highlighted by conceding the joint-most Championship goals in the final ten minutes of games (14).[/p]

[p]One of those 14 came in the reverse fixture against Friday’s opponents Plymouth in December, whose recent decline has seen them sucked into the relegation dogfight. An eighth defeat in 11 (W1, D2) against Bristol City on Monday spelled the end for Argyle boss Ian Foster, who was relieved of his duties with Director of Football Ian Dewsnip placed in charge until the end of the season.[/p]

[p]Dewsnip takes charge for the second time this season with six games remaining for the Pilgrims, as they sit precariously just one point above the drop zone having failed to score in six of their last nine. So while Rotherham’s fate is almost sealed, Plymouth still have everything to play for, but anything other than victory on Friday night could see Argyle fall into the relegation zone for the first time this season![/p]

[p]Key battle: Unsurprisingly, Rotherham’s Viktor Johansson averages the most saves per game of any goalkeeper in the Championship (4), but has the least clean sheets (4). Morgan Whittaker’s 26 goal contributions have kept Argyle’s heads above water – two of those (G1, A1) came in the reverse fixture and he hasn’t been beaten by the Millers in his career (W1, D1). [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Plymouth are yet to win at the AESSEAL New York Stadium (D1, L2), losing their last trip there in August 2021.[/p]
