Salernitana Lecce prediction 2024-03-16

Salernitana vs Lecce prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2024-03-15 17:00.
[p]Bottom of the table Salernitana take on fellow strugglers Lecce as Serie A enters the final ten rounds of the campaign this weekend. After three seasons in the top flight, and with no ‘new manager bounce’ since Fabio Liverani took over last month (D1, L3), the Garnets are 11 points from safety and seemingly need a miracle if they’re to avoid the drop.[/p]

[p]It has been a season to forget for the hosts who have won only twice all campaign (D8, L18) with just one victory at home. That win was back in November, and since then they have taken one point from seven matches at the Stadio Arechi. In fact, you’d have to go back to May 2023 to find the last time that they kept a clean sheet at home, so it perhaps comes as no surprise the Garnets conceded another four goals in a 4-2 away defeat to Cagliari last weekend.[/p]

[p]Lecce were also defeated in Round 28, meaning they’ve now won just twice since Round six (D8, L13), but the 1-0 loss was overshadowed by manager Roberto d’Aversa headbutting Verona striker Thomas Henry after the final whistle. Not only did he receive a red card for the incident but he was also sacked on Monday, with former Udinese and Spezia manager Luca Gotti taking over.[/p]

[p]Gotti has a tough job on his hands and brings his side west without a clean sheet or a victory away from home in the league all season (D6, L8) as well as failing to score in eight of their last 12 games. That perhaps goes some way to explaining why Lecce start this round just a point above the drop zone, but Salernitana could be just the opposition to get the new coach’s reign off to a positive start, as they have been beaten only once in nine H2Hs in Italy’s top-two tiers since the 2009/10 campaign (W6, D2).[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Giulio Maggiore comes into this clash in strong form after scoring in Salernitana’s defeat in Cagliari and getting an assist in their 1-1 draw at Udinese the previous weekend. Nikola Krstović grabbed the opening goal in the reverse fixture in September and is one of only two Lecce players to have scored in an away match so far in 2024.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Lecce have opened the scoring in only one of their last seven away games.[/p]
