Salzburg PSG prediction 2024-12-10

Salzburg vs PSG prediction: EUROPE: Champions League – League phase betting tips on match 2024-12-09 20:00.
[p]RB Salzburg and PSG clash on matchday six of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) with both in desperate need of points if they’re to extend their European campaigns. It’s been a dire run in the UCL for the Austrian hosts (W1, L4), with each defeat coming by a 2+ goal margin to leave them three points adrift of qualification at the start of the round, so a second consecutive failure to reach the knockout stages is a distinct possibility.[/p]

[p]A run of one win in six matches across all competitions has put new boss Pep Lijnders under serious pressure (D2, L3), as his side also sit 13 points off the title pace domestically. He therefore needs Salzburg to end a run of six consecutive UCL home losses in the main draw, one of which came in the form of a thumping 4-0 defeat against French opposition in Brest on matchday two.[/p]

[p]Ligue 1 opponents don’t come any more fearsome than PSG, but translating their domestic dominance onto the continental stage has proved far from easy this season. Unbeaten back home (W10, D4), Luis Enrique’s men have earned just four points from five UCL matches so far (W1, D1, L3), leaving them outside the qualification places and at risk of seeing a 12-season streak of knockout stage appearances coming to an end.[/p]

[p]The French champions are hardly in sparkling form themselves (D2, L1) as they seek a first win on Austrian soil, with that poor run started by a 1-0 defeat at Bayern Munich on matchday five. That was a third successive UCL away defeat ‘to nil’ and a fourth match without victory in the competition at any venue (D1, L3) – they last experienced a longer winless run back in April 2015![/p]

[p]Players to watch: Salzburg’s Nicolás Capaldo has scored his side’s first goal before half-time in three successive matches, with the last two both coming in exactly the 34th minute. Now restored to the starting XI after injury, PSG will want Gonçalo Ramos to rediscover his scoring touch as he last lost a club match he netted in back in February 2022 (W29, D7).[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Five of the six goals PSG have conceded in the UCL this season came before half-time.[/p]
