Sassuolo Atalanta prediction 2023-02-04

Sassuolo vs Atalanta prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2023-02-03 19:45.
An impressive 5-2 victory against reigning Serie A (SA) champions AC Milan ended Sassuolo’s long wait for their first league win since October (D2, L6), and eased some of the pressure on boss Alessio Dionisi’s shoulders. Despite holding a seven-point cushion to the relegation zone, Sassuolo can’t breathe easy just yet as they only registered less than their current 20 points after the first 20 SA rounds in their maiden top-flight season, albeit the fact they finished 17th that season should soothe any nerves.

The table still makes tough reading for Neroverdi fans after two top-half finishes in the last three seasons, but with four points from back-to-back away trips they’ll hope to see their first home win after three failures (D1, L2) here. Sassuolo will have to perform close to their best against European chasing Atalanta though, as each of their three home league wins this term have come against sides starting this round 14th or lower.

Despite ending January with a 1-0 defeat to Inter in the Coppa Italia, Atalanta can be satisfied with their 2023 so far after winning four of their previous six outings (W4, D2). They’ve scored 22 goals across that run, with no SA team netting more than their 17 goals during the five league matches after the World Cup, and it’s just as well their attack is razor sharp considering they’ve kept just one clean sheet in that streak!

No January signings, despite selling Ruslan Malinovskyi to Marseille, suggests coach Gian Piero Gasperini has strong belief that his side can retain a spot in the top four, and maybe that’s no surprise considering they have scored at least twice in five of their last six away SA matches (W2, D3, L1). That’s a feat they’ve also achieved in five of the last seven H2Hs held here as Atalanta seek a victory which would provisionally move them into second.

Players to watch: Home captain Domenico Berardi collected a goal and three assists last time out and has six career goals against Atalanta despite losing more H2Hs against them than any other side (W3, D4, L10). Hoping to inflict another defeat upon him is in-form Ademola Lookman, who has already scored 12 goals in his first SA season for Atalanta, including the winner in the reverse fixture.

Hot stat: Both teams have scored in 12 of the last 13 H2Hs, including the last nine in a row.
