Sevilla Elche prediction 2023-01-28

Sevilla vs Elche prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-01-27 17:30.
While you may have been laughed at if you said that a clash between Sevilla and Elche would represent a relegation battle after 18 games played, the current situation is no joke for either side. Sevilla managed to alleviate some pressure with a potentially crucial 1-0 victory over fellow-relegation threatened side Cádiz, though manager Jorge Sampaoli still wasn’t pleased, stating he expected a ‘’better result’’.

With just four wins this season, the lowest Sevilla have managed at this stage of a league campaign since 1999/00, Sampaoli would likely take any sort of triumph once again. Don’t put it past his fighting side either, as we might be witnessing something of a resurgence at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium with Sevilla’s only league wins here this season (W2, D3, L4) arriving in their last two outings!

Basement boys Elche are in a more perilous position, having failed to win any of their La Liga (LL) games this season (D6, L12), though they’ve at least shown some fighting spirit under new manager Pablo Machín (W1, D2, L3) by grabbing successive league draws despite conceding first. The latest of those came against top-half side Osasuna (1-1) with a disappointed Machín stating that his side "did enough to win".

Stalemates are unlikely to be enough for survival, but having never won away to Sevilla in the top-flight (D5, L15) it’s going to take a historic effort to grab a potentially vital victory. Particularly when considering the side from southeast Spain are now 11 straight LL away games without a clean sheet, whilst also conceding the most league goals on the road so far this season (21), with Machín calling for immediate transfer action to save his side.

Players to watch: Sevilla will hope Ivan Rakitić can maintain his hot recent form, as he’s notched three goal contributions from his last three LL outings (G1, A2). In a similarly rich vein of form is Elche’s top-scorer Ezequiel Ponce (G5), who struck in their last LL away outing – each of his league goals this season have been Elche’s only goal on the day.

Hot stat: Since February 2019, Sevilla have lost just one LL home game after scoring first (W41, D7).
