Sevilla vs Getafe prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-01-07 17:30.
After a thumping 5-0 win over Linares Deportivo in the Copa del Rey, Sevilla return to La Liga (LL) action for a crunch contest against Getafe. Sevilla saw their nightmare season continue with a 1-1 draw against Celta Vigo in their last LL outing, which ensured they remained in the LL relegation places after 15 games for the first time since 1999/00!
That torrid start to the campaign also sees Sevilla placed below Getafe at this stage of the season for the first time since 2013/14. Even though a win wouldn’t be enough to leapfrog Getafe, the Sevilla faithful will still be desperate for a first LL home win of the season (D3, L4), not least because that run marks the first time this century that their side are winless in seven consecutive home league games.
They may have beaten Mallorca 2-0 in their first LL game after the break, but Getafe’s own inconsistencies are highlighted by each of their last five league results differing from the last (W2, D2, L1). That victory, only their second in nine league games (D4, L3), provided Azulones boss Quique Sánchez Flores with some respite, though he has since watched his side exit the Copa del Rey at the hands of Levante (3-2).
The LL triumph saw Getafe move five points clear of the drop zone ahead of the round, but having won only two of their last nine away league outings (D3, L4) and failing to score more than once in any of their last four LL games on the road, it appears a tall order to stretch that gap here. It’s hard to make an argument for Getafe claiming anything here in fact, given they have suffered six consecutive H2H defeats against Sevilla, failing to score in each.
Players to watch: Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri should be in good spirits after scoring two goals against Linares Deportivo, which is as many as he had in his previous 16 games for his side. Borja Mayoral also netted a double in his last LL outing, but he’s never played on the winning side against Sevilla in league action (D1, L4).
Hot stat: Only one of the last eight H2H meetings in Seville has seen both sides score.
