Sevilla Osasuna prediction 2024-01-28

Sevilla vs Osasuna prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2024-01-27 17:30.
One, two, three, five… the goal counts of Sevilla’s La Liga opponents continue to grow round by round, as does the trepidation this campaign about their chances of being relegated for the first time in the 21st century. The revolving door of head coaches has not found the answer to their woes as far as their La Liga struggles are concerned, though Quique Sánchez Flores did steer them into the final eight of the Copa del Rey before they lost narrowly away to Atlético Madrid in midweek.

Their 5-1 loss away to surprise title challengers Girona was the heaviest of their current four game losing run in La Liga, but perhaps their most concerning defeat came with a 3-2 loss at home to Alavés, given their next two La Liga assignments are against other mid-table clubs Osasuna (home) and Rayo Vallecano (away). More concern could be found from the fact that Sevilla have just two wins from nine league games as home favourites this season, one of which came against last-placed Almería (5-1) way back in September.

With what goes down as their equal second-best start to a season (in terms of points earned) since returning to La Liga, Osasuna occupy a midtable spot after doing what Sevilla recently failed to do, defeat Getafe at home. Whilst the manner of the result (giving up a two-goal lead on the way to a late 3-2 win) would have prompted anxiety amongst restless fans, manager Jagoba Arrasate still assessed it as “the best way” to start the second half of the season.

That said, Osasuna haven’t won a La Liga away game since the first weekend of October (D1, L4) which won’t exactly heighten confidence ahead of this outing. That period also included three matches against sides starting this round below them in the standings (D1, L2), so they’ll have to look further back to last season’s 3-2 win in this corresponding fixture for motivation.

Players to watch: Sevilla’s last La Liga goalscorer at home, Lucas Ocampos, has scored in three of his four La Liga home appearances against Osasuna. Meanwhile, Pamplona-born Raúl García could earn another start after scoring in three of his last four La Liga matches.

Hot stat: Just one of Osasuna’s last 14 La Liga away games were drawn (W4, L9).
