Sheffield Utd Rotherham prediction 2022-09-10

Sheffield Utd vs Rotherham prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-09-09 14:00.
After beating Hull City 2-0 to make it seven Championship games unbeaten (W5, D2), Sheffield United have another Yorkshire derby to look forward to as they line up against Rotherham United. Paul Heckingbottomā€™s side have reason to be optimistic after winning their last two league games ā€˜to nilā€™, whilst also going unbeaten in home H2Hs since September 1980 (W7, D2).

They kept clean sheets in the last five of those H2Hs (W5), and conceding only once at home in the league this term (W4) has helped them top the table after matchday eight as their promotion bid gathers pace. A milestone is on the horizon too, as victory here would also see Sheffield United notch five straight competitive home wins for the first time since their promotion-winning campaign in 2018/19.

Coincidentally, they reached five in a row back then by beating Rotherham 2-0 and with the visitors keen to avoid a repeat, they should travel in good spirits after holding promotion hopefuls Watford to a 1-1 draw last time out. Rotherham Manager Paul Warne was quick to praise his sideā€™s character after their display, whilst also querying why Championship midweek games arenā€™t all played on the same night.

He felt it had disadvantaged his team but as Rotherham played a day before Sheffield United last weekend, he can have no excuses if they donā€™t perform well here, particularly as itā€™s a mere 20-mile round trip! Well rested or not, the omens arenā€™t good as they try to win here for the first time in more than 30 years, whilst theyā€™re still without a league away victory this term (D2, L1).

Players to watch: Oli McBurnie has netted in each of Sheffield Unitedā€™s last three games, twice opening the scoring. Another potential fast starter is Rotherhamā€™s Chiedozie Ogbene, whose three league strikes this season came between the 15th minute and half-time.

Hot streak: Thereā€™s been no scoring before the 30th minute or after the 70th in Rotherhamā€™s league away fixtures this term.
