Sheffield Wed Millwall prediction 2023-11-11

Sheffield Wed vs Millwall prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-11-10 15:00.
Sheffield Wednesday will be gunning for successive Championship home wins for the first time since February 2021 after a disastrous start to the campaign sees them sitting bottom of the table. However, the Owls are stirring under Danny Röhl, who was appointed last month following Xisco Muñoz’s dismal reign and has since guided his new employers to a first league victory of the season in their previous outing at Hillsborough against South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United.

The hosts have found the going tough against upcoming opponents Millwall, failing to beat the Lions in any of their last five meetings (D3, L2) with all three draws finishing goalless (L2). That said, their hopes of halting that unwanted run on Saturday have been handed a major boost, as captain Barry Bannan’s red card at Bristol City was successfully overturned earlier this week.

Millwall are also in a period of transition, having parted company with Gary Rowett last month to end a four-year tenure. His replacement Joe Edwards, like Röhl, is someone who has never previously had a senior managerial job. He moved to The Den on Monday following a period in interim charge of England’s Under-20s and is the second-youngest boss in the division after Röhl.

Sitting in 18th, the south-east Londoners are not yet in dire straits but are winless in five league matches since beating Plymouth 2-0, which is also when they last recorded a clean sheet. Millwall have tended to be fast starters though, scoring four times in the opening 15 minutes of Championship encounters this term, a record only Sunderland and West Brom have bettered heading into this round of fixtures.

Players to watch: After setting up both goals for Michael Smith against Rotherham, Anthony Musaba will have his sights set on getting on the scoresheet for the first time since September. Zian Flemming meanwhile goes in search of finding the net in a fourth successive away game for the first time in his career.

Hot streak: Sheffield Wednesday haven’t scored in their last six away league matches.
