Silkeborg vs Anderlecht prediction: EUROPE: Europa Conference League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-11-02 20:00.
Silkeborg will host Anderlecht for the final round of UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) Group B action with a place in the knockout play-off round still at stake for both sides. Silkeborg, who are making their maiden UEFA group stage appearance, are one point ahead of their visitors in second place and therefore have not only home soil advantage, but the assurance of knowing that avoiding defeat will see them one step closer to playing European football in spring for the first time ever.
The Danes have been struggling recently, winning just one of their past five games in all competitions (D1, L3) during a dismal run that includes a 1-2 domestic home loss to Viborg last weekend. Amassing 11 goals across that five-game run highlights their potency in front of goal, with the bulk of the goals coming in a pair of impressive 5-0 group stage victories against group minnows FCSB, so there will be belief that history can be made if they can get things together defensively.
Anderlecht’s 2-2 draw to FCSB appears to leave them well behind Silkeborg based on those formlines, adding to the pressure of this must-win tie. With his side sitting tenth in the Belgian Pro League, interim manager Robin Veldman recently declared his aim is “to make our players and our fans smile again’’. There have certainly been supply chain issues on that front as the Belgians have taken just one win from their opening five group games (D2, L2).
Whilst this marks a poor return for the most decorated club in the UECL in terms of European successes, Veldman might see more in the way of toothy grins if he can pull this off, considering his side have triumphed in just one of their last eight games on the road in UEFA competition (D3, L4). Having also failed to score on six of those occasions, Anderlecht’s undefeated record against Danish opposition (W5, D1) could very well be in danger.
Players to watch: Silkeborg defender Tobias Salquist is making his return to Belgium after featuring for Waasland-Beveren in 2019/20. He has been part of a backline that has conceded just one goal in their last three UECL encounters. He’ll face Anderlecht’s Fábio Silva, with the forward striking in two of his last three away outings, excluding the abandoned contest versus Standard Liège.
Hot streak: Silkeborg have scored in their last 15 home games in all competitions.
