Silkeborg West Ham prediction 2022-09-15

Silkeborg vs West Ham prediction: EUROPE: Europa Conference League – Group Stage betting tips on match 2022-09-14 19:00.
Silkeborg’s return to European competition after a 21-year absence didn’t quite go to plan, as the Danish outfit slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Anderlecht. A 1-0 Danish Superliga victory against Aarhus at the weekend went some way to getting over that defeat, but with just two wins in their last five league outings (L3), perhaps a frantic Thursday-Sunday schedule is taking its toll.

A hectic schedule perhaps won’t explain another failure to win here though, as Silkeborg’s issues in Europe appear far more deep-rooted as you’d have to go back to August 1998 for the last time they won in European competition! But they do hold something of an ace card here against West Ham, in that they peculiarly play on an artificial pitch, something they will hope to use to their advantage in search of just a third-ever European home win outside of the defunct Intertoto Cup (D2, L4).

With fresh legs after the Premier League (PL) postponed all weekend fixtures, West Ham make another trip to Scandinavia after recently dispatching Silkeborg’s Danish rivals Viborg in their UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) play-off tie. A UECL group opening victory against FCSB (3-1) was the perfect start to their group campaign, and at least provides some respite from a decisively average start to the PL season (W1, D1, L4).

The extended break dealt to PL sides may prove to be timely for Hammers boss David Moyes, who has essentially had a mini pre-season to rally his troops to go again. A UECL game could prove to be the catalyst for a revival as West Ham have won all three of their games in the competition this season, scoring three goals in each. That now leaves the Hammers with the opportunity to win four European games in a row for the first time ever!

Players to watch: Sebastian Jørgensen is Silkeborg’s only scorer across their last four games, with both of his goals opening the scoring. Meanwhile, two of Declan Rice’s (WHU) three European goals last season made the score 2-0.

Hot stat: Both teams have scored in just one of West Ham’s last seven European away games.
