South Korea Colombia prediction 2023-03-24

South Korea vs Colombia prediction: WORLD: Friendly International betting tips on match 2023-03-23 11:00.
JĂŒrgen Klinsmann will take charge of South Korea for the first time as they begin their preparations for next year’s Asian Cup. The German boss says winning the tournament is his “goal”, although considering the Warriors haven’t claimed Asian Cup glory since 1960 and have less than 12 months to go until kick-off in Qatar, Klinsmann doesn’t have much time to imprint his game plan on the squad.

That means every international meet-up is crucial, including a pair of friendlies this month against Uruguay and opponents for this match Colombia. This is the eighth clash between the two nations and South Korea have dominated the seven H2H meetings prior with four wins (D2, L1), while they have a staggeringly good record in friendly matches in general, losing just four of them since June 2018 (W13, D8).

That record pales into insignificance compared to Colombia though, who have won 24 of their 37 friendlies (D9, L4) since September 2014. The most recent four of those games have come under new manager NĂ©stor Lorenzo, who was in the Argentina line-up when they lost the Italia ‘90 World Cup final to Klinsmann’s Germany and took charge of the Tricolors after their failure to qualify for last year’s World Cup.

The former Swindon defender remains unbeaten since taking over the reins, picking up three wins so far (D1). As Lorenzo bids to extend that impressive run, he will have to make do without Bournemouth star Jefferson Lerma who has pulled out of the squad due to injury, but even in the absence of one of his key men, he will look to use this fixture and an upcoming game against Japan as a chance to lay the foundations of a side building towards next year’s Copa AmĂ©rica.

Key battle: South Korea’s Son Heung-min has scored three goals in two previous friendly appearances against Colombia, winning both games 2-1. He may be looking to get the better of Tottenham teammate Davinson Sánchez, who has helped the Tricolors keep six clean sheets in his last eight friendly appearances (W5, D2, L1).

Hot stat: Only four of Colombia’s last 15 matches have contained three or more goals, a run that includes five 0-0 draws!
