Southampton Arsenal prediction 2025-05-25

Southampton vs Arsenal prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2025-05-24 15:00.
[p]Following one of their toughest seasons in the Premier League, Southampton must take to the field one last time in a game which ultimately means nothing as they will remain rooted to the foot of the table regardless. Sitting just one point above the infamous 2007/08 Derby side, a 30th league defeat here would see Southampton become the first side to ever lose that many games in the Premier League era. [/p]

[p]The Saints have only once previously met Arsenal on the final day of a Premier League campaign, with the hosts actually triumphing 3-2 in their very last game at The Dell back in 2001, but any such sense of occasion will be absent from this encounter. Last winning a home league game in November 2024 (D2, L11), Southampton will do well to leave with their dignity intact after conceding 19 times across six visits from London sides since then (D1, L5).[/p]

[p]All but guaranteed to finish second for a third season in a row, Arsenal should make the trip south with plenty of confidence ahead of their 50th Premier League meeting against Southampton (W26, D15, L8). Recent inconsistency in the league may raise some slight concern amongst the Gunners faithful (W2, D4, L1), although they haven’t lost any of their last 19 games to end a league season (W17, D2). [/p]

[p]It will perhaps surprise few that Arsenal have won more final day Premier League games (23) than any other side since the league’s inception, a run which includes 13 consecutive wins in such games ahead of this trip. Adding to that tally will be the expectation for the Gunners, who have a perfect winning record against the relegated sides this season (W5), scoring six unanswered goals across the two away games therein. [/p]

[p]Key battle: Southampton haven’t scored a goal in 346 minutes of regulation play since defender Jack Stephens’ opener in the defeat to Fulham. He will be more concerned with keeping the likes of the returning Kai Havertz (PL: G9) at bay, who could yet save Arsenal from playing out a league season with no player hitting 10+ goals for the first time in over a century. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Southampton have failed to win nine of their 11 league games when scoring first this season (W2, D2, L7). [/p]
