Southampton vs Leicester prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-10-18 14:00.
[p]None of the three newly-promoted sides have set the world alight in the Premier League this season, but Southampton have certainly been the worst of the trio. The Saints are yet to win in the top-flight this term (D1, L6), and with a league-low four goals scored coupled with conceding the joint-second most goals in the league ahead of the round (15), it’s easy to see why they’re struggling. [/p]
[p]That record might only get worse as Leicester come to town – a side who Southampton came up with, but were beaten by an aggregate 9-1 scoreline across their two Championship meetings last season! Conceding nine against the Foxes isn’t an alien concept to the Saints either, as their joint-heaviest defeat in club history came on this ground against Leicester back in October 2019 (9-0). [/p]
[p]Whilst a repeat scoreline is so unlikely that most bookmakers won’t even offer a price on it, Leicester won’t mind what the score is as long as they return to the East Midlands with three points. Doing so would see the Foxes win back-to-back Premier League games for the first time since February 2023, after they picked up their first victory of the season at home to Bournemouth before the international break. [/p]
[p]Boss Steve Cooper said his side “defended really well” in that clash, but that’s something they’ve struggled with away from home in the top-flight, winning just one of their last 14 such matches (D4, L9). That run includes a 1-0 defeat on this ground back in March 2023, and incredibly, that was one of just four occasions in those 14 games that they didn’t concede at least twice.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Cameron Archer was on target in Southampton’s defeat against Arsenal prior to the international break – five of his last six club goals arrived after half-time. Leicester’s Facundo Buonanotte prefers his strikes to come early, netting six of his seven strikes in English football before the break. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: All seven of Leicester’s games this season have seen the opening goal arrive before the 30th minute. [/p]
