Sparta Rotterdam Feyenoord prediction 2023-08-20

Sparta Rotterdam vs Feyenoord prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2023-08-19 12:30.
The first Rotterdam derby of this season will take place in Het Kasteel, where Sparta Rotterdam are visited by the champions Feyenoord Rotterdam. It won’t be easy for the Spartans to eclipse their previous season, but the club has managed to keep many of their most successful and influential players on deck so far. In any case, the first result was a positive one, even if they couldn’t keep a clean sheet against PEC Zwolle (2-1).

They’ll have to be at their absolute sharpest after enduring some difficult times against Feyenoord in recent years, particularly having conceded at least three goals in their last three matches against Feyenoord. They’ve certainly started their matches convincingly: their half-time lead last week was their 17th consecutive Eredivisie game in which they did not trail at the break.

Feyenoord have had a busy transfer window in their pursuit of back-to-back titles, and despite currently being the only Dutch club guaranteed an appearance in the Champions League group stage, they haven’t been convincing in their first couple of matches of the new season. They failed to score both in the Johan Cruyff Shield against KNVB Cup winners PSV (0-1) as well as in last week’s Eredivisie home game against Fortuna Sittard (0-0).

They’re consequently still awaiting their first goal of the season and will need to add three points lest they wish to concede a gap to the leaders of the competition so early in the piece. The front third has not been yet convincing, but may have taken a positive step forward on Friday when it was announced that Oussama Idrissi will most likely return to Rotterdam South. For now, Igor Paixão appears the best candidate to provide some creativity from the wings.

Players to watch: Against all opposition, Sparta’s Vito van Crooij found the back of the net in three of his six most recent Eredivisie games. Feyenoord’s Santiago Giménez has a record of scoring against Sparta, doing so in both of his H2H appearances.

Hot stat: Sparta lost five of their six Eredivisie games as a home outsider last season (D1).
